Access to resources like water and education are human rights, but in Chicago these critical public resources are being put on the table for privatization, which always results in higher costs and enriches a few at the expense of workers, people of color, and low-income communities. The U.S. government spends half its budget on war and militarization, then claims to have no money left to provide people with basic services. We reject these priorities. Everyone deserves access to clean air and water, dignified work, health care and education. Join us as we claim these resources as part of the commons – they belong to us all, not Mayor Daley or big corporations. When our communities come together, we can build toward democratic control of the resources we depend on for survival, and realize social, environmental and economic justice.

The Clean Air and Water Show at 31st Street Beach will showcase community-based solutions for more just and sustainable ways of living. Activities will include theatre, games, speakers, music and food. Free and open to the public!
